The roots have water and nutrients all the time, so there is no watering schedule to keep and no soil to manage. Flip it around so the pump pushes air into the solution.</p>\n\n<h2>What can you grow?</h2>\n<p>Herbs like basil, mint and parsley are well suited to deep water culture because they stay compact and grow steadily. Lettuce and other leafy greens do well too.
